GLOBALPORT turned to its defense in the absence of its top offensive weapon, holding off Rain or Shine, 78-70, to barge into the win column of the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Stanley Pringle sustained his offensive brilliance without backcourt partner Terrence Romeo, but it was the Batang Pier’s team effort on defense that proved to be the difference as they hacked out the win in a grind-out, low-scoring battle.
